Piccolo Mondo opened in May 1982 in the courtyard behind Barclays Bank in Wimborne Square. The first pizzeria in Wimborne.

Following Maurizio's partnerships with Enzo Galvagno and Danny Pegoraro the business is now owned solely by the Savoca family, his Sicilian heritage having a major influence on the dishes for the specials board.

For those who don't remember, the first premises had only 8 tables, it was very 'intimate'. A good rapport developed between the regular customers and innumerable friendships were forged as a result. We are pleased to say many customers still visit us now, some were children at the time and now they bring their own children. We look forward to seeing the children's children's children!

After 10 years of successful trading, and queues for tables at the weekend, it was decided to try and find a larger home for the restaurant and the move to the old Vineyard Wine Bar came about. Situated upstairs it is much bigger but still has the intimate feel which is important to the Piccolo Mondo reputation.

Our staff are one of the friendliest groups of people you could ever wish to come across,

who take great pleasure in making both new and regular customers feel relaxed and

'at home'.

In 2012 our terrace (sadly not used as often as we would have liked, due to our

unpredictable British weather) was enclosed to form our new extension, a wonderful

space for larger parties.

Maurizio is still a big feature at restaurant, along with his daughter Alessandra

and his son-in-law, Wes.
